Whit Browne, professor of bass, has been teaching at Berklee College of music since 1976 and playing the bass since 1964. He has made many recordings and TV and radio appearances, and has performed with Oscar Peterson, Dizzy Gillespie, Diana Krall, Sonny Stitt, Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis, Kenny Burrell, Alan Dawson, Papa Jo Jones, Joe Williams, and many other jazz artists. Whit is listed in “15 Notable Arts Professors in Boston” 2014 by The Art Career, and received the “Outstanding Contribution to the Arts” award from Harvard University, Whit has been nominated three times for “Outstanding Bassist” by the Boston Music Awards, and received “Award for Excellence in Bass Instruction” from Berklee College of Music. He studied with Ray Brown, Charlie Banacos, Kai Juel, and Tiny Martin.
